Elton F. Norman graduated, cum laude, from Howard University School of Law in 1994. While at Howard Law School, he served as a member of the Howard Law Review. He earned a BBA in Accounting from Andrews University in 1988. Mr. Norman passed the Certified Public Accountant examination and has previously worked as an accountant and an auditor.

Mr. Norman has extensive experience in the formation, counseling and governance of business entities, including limited liability companies, S corporations, C corporations and partnerships. Mr. Norman also assists individuals and businesses in customary and regular transactions such as drafting and negotiating agreements and contracts, commercial lease agreements, buy/sell agreements, shareholder agreements, investments, acquisitions and dispositions.

Mr. Norman also assists individuals with tax issues before the Internal Revenue Service and with bankruptcy filings when necessary.

Mr. Norman’s work experience encompasses many different corporate transactions, including but not limited to securities offerings (public and private debt and equity offerings), public company compliance with SEC, NYSE and NASD rules and regulations, mergers and acquisitions, venture capital financing, for-profit and non-profit corporate formations and corporate counseling. Mr. Norman also has significant experience working with small and start-up businesses.

Mr. Norman began his legal career as a corporate associate at Thacher Proffitt & Wood in New York, New York and Fried Frank Harris Shriver & Jacobson in Washington, DC. Later, he joined the Public Broadcasting Corporation (PBS) in Alexandria, Virginia as a senior attorney. Mr. Norman then joined Troutman Saunders, LLP in McLean, Virginia as a senior associate. In 2003, Mr. Norman began his independent private practice, where he worked within a few small law firms. He is currently the founder and Managing Member of The Norman Law Firm PLLC.

Mr. Norman is admitted to the bars of the District of Columbia, New York and Georgia. He was a contributing author of The District of Columbia Practice Manual, Corporate Practice, Seventh Edition-Volume 1, 1998. Mr. Norman serves his community by working with the homeless and by ministering to those in prison.
